Exciting news for Nashies as it has been revealed that CMT has renewed Nashville for a sixth season!
It would appear that the move from ABC to CMT has been nothing but positive for the show as it became the most watched show for the network, meaning a sixth season is a no-brainer. Zac Brown Band have released another single from their upcoming album Welcome Home, along with a lyric video. I love “My Old Man” and “Real Thing” but I think “Family Table” might be my favourite of the new album so far. The song is an ode to a piece of furniture, as well as a heartfelt metaphor for the comfort of family. The lyrics echo this sentiment as ZBB sing, “it’s the cornerstone that held us all up”. Willie Nelson has revealed his tribute to friend Merle Haggard on the anniversary of his death. The new song will feature on his upcoming album God’s Problem Child.
Haggard passed away on April 6th 2016 – his 79th birthday. A year on, country stars came together in Nashville for a tribute concert, ‘Sing Me Back Home: The Music of Merle Haggard’. There were performances from artists such as Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley, Jake Owen, Kacey Musgraves to name a few, to show appreciation of Haggards contribution to the world of country music, as Nelson sings ‘it wouldn’t be all it was without Merle‘. FGL are nominated for 5 ACMs and have received 2 awards before tonight’s broadcast. The vocal duo take home the awards for Single of the Year for “H.O.L.Y” and Vocal Event of the Year for “May We All” ft. Tim McGraw.
Tonight we’ll see whether they can hold onto their title of Vocal Duo of the Year as they have the past 3 years. I believe this year there is tough competition.
The duo are also up for Entertainer of the Year and Album of the Year for Dig Your Roots.
This is the moment we have been waiting for since Traveller was released. Chris Stapleton has tweeted that he is playing a new song tonight on the ACMs!
Although we still don’t have a date for the new album, it is if nothing else, a confirmation that the wait is almost over. I am beyond excited to hear the new music and can’t wait for it’s release to get it on repeat.
