Album Review: Golden Hour

The wait is over! The Golden Hour has finally arrived in the form of a brand new Kacey Musgraves album. This album really embodies who Musgraves has become as an artist, lyrically and musically and it does so with an authenticity and enchantment.

Most of the songs on this album have a different sound to anything we’ve heard from Musgraves before, yet the lyrics hold the same real life feel that we know and love. Different from the majority of the country genre, Musgraves is still echoing the sentiments of ‘Follow Your Arrow’ in songs, just less Continue reading “Album Review: Golden Hour”

C2C Highlights

Bear with me while I recover from the weekend and cope with the fact C2C is over for another year. Before I post my reviews, here’s a list my Top 10 best things at C2C 2018, not necessarily in order.

1. Walker Hayes in the NY-LON Lounge Bar.

For those lucky enough to see anyone in the NY-LON Lounge Bar, you’ll know what an amazing, intimate venue it is. As a huge fan of Walker Hayes it was such a privilege to see him in such a setting and I only wish more gigs could be like that!

The biggest disappointment for the initial C2C line up for me, was that Lindsay Ell only had a slot on the Spotlight Stage, when I feel that she is worthy of so much more. So, Continue reading “C2C Highlights”

Kacey Musgraves Weds Ruston Kelly

Yesterday, Kacey Musgraves became Mrs Kelly 10 months after Ruston Kelly proposed on Christmas Eve. The couple both took to social media yesterday confirming it was their big day with Kelly saying he’d ‘finally found the real thing’. Too sweet!!!

While we’re impatiently respectfully waiting for wedding dress pictures – who isn’t dying to see what Musgraves chose – there have been a few snaps shared. Songwriter and good friend of the happy couple, Shane McAnally posted adorable pictures of his sweet babies at the wedding with his son as a ring bearer and daughter, a ‘glitter girl’. Day of the Girl

While I understand that the issue of gender equality, and the need for an ‘International Day of the Girl Child’ is far bigger than country music, we have to start somewhere. Women in country have been a minority for a while now in terms of recognition. You could probably think of plenty of amazing female country artists… Continue reading “Day of the Girl “

Why The C2C Line Up Is Nearly Perfection

The line up for C2C 2018 has been announced on stage at the Shepherds Bush Empire tonight by Whispering Bob Harris.

Headlining across the 3 days are Kacey Musgraves, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill and Little Big Town. Kelsey Ballerini, Luke Combs, Kip Moore, Midland and Margo Price are also set to perform on the main stage at some point Friday-Sunday. There have been very mixed reactions following this announcement, with many saying Kacey Musgraves isn’t headline material and that Little Big Town performed a few years ago and therefore shouldn’t appear again. Okay so here’s my take on it… Continue reading “Why The C2C Line Up Is Nearly Perfection”
