After changing all his profile pictures to ’10 days’ we knew there had to be something exciting following and it’s about time, too! During a Facebook Live video, Chris Young announced that in 10 days, on May 12th, he will release a new single. He then posted on Twitter & Instagram so that no one missed the news.
Young’s last album – not counting his Christmas album – I’m Coming Over was released in 2015, so it was only a matter of time before we got some new music. Young gave a glimpse on his Instagram page of the single, titled ‘Losing Sleep’. Check it out:
I can’t help but feel that the snippet is reminiscent of Justin Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’, which is in no way a bad thing. Hopefully, following the new single will be an album announcement.
‘Losing Sleep’ will be available on May 12th.
In her feature in the next issue of Billboard Magazine, Miley Cyrus has announced that she will be releasing new music next week, May 11th. This is the perfect time for Miley to make her mark in country as the genre needs more honest female perspectives.
Cyrus is pictured on the cover of the magazine, looking a far cry from her previous endeavours, but beautiful as ever, along with a caption describing her new venture as becoming a, “countrified singer-songwriter”. Her new single, titled ‘Malibu’ has been described as a, “gimmick-free…breezy love song”.
I was really excited to read that Miley is going down a more country route, her distinctive voice is perfect for it – if having Dolly Parton as a godmother isn’t excuse enough. Despite this, Cyrus expressed her concern that country fans, “don’t really take me seriously as a country artist“. I would contest this from my own personal opinion, but I also have high hopes that her new music, which Billy Ray Cyrus describes as, “Miley leaning into her roots more than I’ve ever heard”, will prove to country fans that she is more than deserving of our praise.
‘Malibu’ is out May 11th. Read the full interview with Billboard in the article below.
This is major!!!!
Brad Paisley announced on Twitter that he will release a visual album for Love and War, much like Beyoncé did for Lemonade. This is a first for country music and I couldn’t think of a better artist to do the honours, given the true country feel and sentimental value of his music videos for the album so far. The preview shows different clips from the recording process as well as appearances from the brilliant artists that collaborate on the album.
The ‘film’ as he calls it, will be released on Friday, but it would also appear that he is giving a few lucky fans the chance to not only watch it early, but watch with Paisley on Wednesday!
I can’t wait to see what the “first ever country music visual album” looks like, especially as it accompanies one of the best country albums released this year.
Check back 28th April!!
He presented it last year with Brett Eldredge and he’s back again for more! Thomas Rhett will host this years CMA Fest for the second time, this time with co-host Kelsea Ballerini.
Both artists are performing at this years CMA Fest in the Nissan Stadium, Ballerini on the Friday night, and Rhett on the Saturday night. The duo feature in an incredible line up of country artists including headliners, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Florida Georgia Line and Brad Paisley. Other acts that will perform over the weekend, across various stages, include Brothers Osborne, Chris Janson, Miranda Lambert, Lauren Alaina, Rascal Flatts. Brett Young, Maren Morris, Maddie and Tae, Chris Stapleton and Keith Urban to name a few.
Besides the lack of Carrie Underwood across the weekend, the only other downside for me is that I can’t be there as I am in the UK, which is super disappointing as the CMA Fest is one of the best celebrations of country music.
CMA Fest 2017 takes place June 8-12. To discover the artists playing over the weekend click the link below.
Brad Paisley’s done it again! First came the touching music video for “Today”, the first single off new album Love and War, followed by a hilarious equivalent for the brilliant, “selfie#theinternetisforever”. Now, he has shared a similar video for new single, “Last Time For Everything”, this time in eighties throwback home-video style, with a title screen straight out of Stranger Things and David Hasselhoff reprising his role as Michael Knight from eighties classic Knight Rider.
While the video is lighthearted and the melody seemingly uplifting, the lyrics of the song echo a sad yet nostalgic sentiment that there is indeed a “last time for everything”. Particularly poignant as Paisley makes it personal, sharing a clip of himself and Little Jimmy Dickens from one of the many times they performed together at the Grand Ole Opry accompanied by the lyrics “Little Jimmy on the Opry stage, last time for everything”.
“Last Time For Everything” is off upcoming album Love and War, out 21st April.
Zac Brown Band have released another single from their upcoming album Welcome Home, along with a lyric video. I love “My Old Man” and “Real Thing” but I think “Family Table” might be my favourite of the new album so far. The song is an ode to a piece of furniture, as well as a heartfelt metaphor for the comfort of family. The lyrics echo this sentiment as ZBB sing, “it’s the cornerstone that held us all up”.
Not only do the lyrics in the song offer a warm and familiar feeling of community, the melody is very conventional of Zac Brown Band, without disappointing in the slightest. The band show off their ever impressive harmonies all over the shop – vocally and by way of guitars and violins. The song fits their ‘Welcome Home’ theme perfectly, and with the rest of the album which has a very nostalgic feel and reminds that truly, “no other place can ease your mind like the family table”.
Zac Brown Band’s fifth studio album Welcome Home is due to be released 12th May.
This is the moment we have been waiting for since Traveller was released. Chris Stapleton has tweeted that he is playing a new song tonight on the ACMs!
Although we still don’t have a date for the new album, it is if nothing else, a confirmation that the wait is almost over. I am beyond excited to hear the new music and can’t wait for it’s release to get it on repeat.
