Jess and The Bandits, a band made up of four Brits and one Texan, have released a new single, ‘World Still Round’, from their 2017 album Smoke and Mirrors. They’ll hope to follow in the footsteps of their last single, ‘White Lies’ which was added to Spotify’s ‘Very Nearly Nashville’ playlist, alongside artists like The Shires, Catherine McGrath and Morgan Evans – a huge feat for any UK/part UK country act.
I first heard ‘World Still Round’ by Logan Brill following her appearance at last year’s Country Music Week and loved it, I’m glad to see it getting more attention from a UK perspective. Jessica Clemmons, the singer-songwriter who leads the bandits described how the song is one of her favourites from the album:
“as soon as we heard it we knew we had to record it”.

Though not as powerful vocally as Logan Brill, Jess’s voice lends perfectly to the song. The song is catchy and honest, typical country storytelling of looking for love. Jess and The Bandit’s offer a quieter take on the single, with a heavier focus on the emotion than the attitude. Their rendition is different to Brill’s, but is every bit as good.
