Thomas Rhett announced some big album news today! Following the success of first single (and blog title inspo), ‘Craving You’ featuring Maren Morris, Rhett has shared the title, release date and track listing for his new album Life Changes.
On Monday Rhett teased a new single ‘Unforgettable’, with a cute gif of him and his wife hinting the inspiration for the song, out 28th July.
From the title to the track names, it appears that Life Changes is about exactly that. Despite Rhett leaning toward pop, it is the honesty and storytelling that is evident in every song that always brings him back to good ol’ country.
Between Rhett’s wife Lauren Akins being due any day now and their gorgeous adopted daughter Willa, there have been many life changes for Rhett to consider writing about and it’s refreshing for the subject matter to be so true.
The album features 14 new songs which appear to signify different life stages, fitting with the song title. It begins with ‘Craving You’, followed by ‘Unforgettable’ and then an unheard song, ‘Sixteen’, with many life events happening along the way such as ‘Marry Me’ and the title track ‘Life Changes’, before ending with a song called ‘Grave’.
I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to hear these songs live when Thomas Rhett brings his tour to the U.K in November.
Life Changes is out September 8th, see the track listing here.
Congratulations are in order for Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd! They have been relationship goals for a while now and to go one step further, Hurd has asked Morris to marry him. That ring though!!
They join a long list of country stars with upcoming nuptials including Shay Mooney of Dan+Shay who is engaged to his long time girlfriend and mommy to their beautiful little boy , Hannah Billinglsey. Kacey Musgraves and fellow county artist Ruston Kelly as well as Kelsea Ballerini and Australian beau Morgan Evans to name a few.
Excited to see who will be next to get engaged and/or married!
Country Music Week begins Monday October 2nd but the opening act is yet to be announced. The week is made to show off artists are having a big impact on today’s country music scene. Country Music Week is exciting for UK country fans as it shows that country is growing here as more artists are coming over to perform for English crowds. It makes the wait until C2C seem slightly easier!
While we know that the week takes place over 2nd-8th October 2017, we do not yet have a complete line up.
It was revealed today however, that amongst other shows, there will be a CMA songwriters series featuring 4 artists including Randy Houser and Angaleena Presley on Tuesday 3rd and Under the Apple Tree Sessions with appearances from the ones to watch, including Seth Ennis and Catherine McGrath on Saturday 7th. Both Ennis and McGrath had standout sets at C2C last year, with McGrath going on to support The Shires on their UK tour, and Ennis with an upcoming gig in the UK as opening act for Little Big Town.
More acts to be announced soon. M
After their amazing set at Download Festival at the weekend, The Cadillac Three have announced they’ll be returning to the UK in November and as if that wasn’t enough, they’re going to be joined by Brothers Osborne!
Having had a taste of their new album with the release of ‘American Slang’ and ‘Dang If We Didn’t’ and a performance of ‘Tennessee’ at Download, I’m excited to hear more of Legacy on the tour.
They’ll be in the UK the same time as Thomas Rhett and Maren Morris, November 2017. The tour starts on the 9th in Belfast at the Mandela Hall and ends in Glasgow at O2 ABC on November 20th. It appears that the Ireland dates will be joined by Broken Witt Rebels and the rest of the UK dates with Brothers Osborne.

10th November – Dublin Whelans
12th November – Cardiff Y Plas

Dan + Shay are coming back to the UK! They’ve played here on two separate occasions in the last 9 months and apparently they can’t get enough! They have a slot at Ireland’s Harvest Festival in August and are returning to the UK and Scotland for more dates this November/December.
Both their C2C set in March and their acoustic gigs last September were incredible. I have found that, particularly in the UK, any country acts that perform here make you feel as though you are part of a special country music family, all in one room at the same time. Dan + Shay are no exception to this, with their small acoustic set in Manchester last year feeling more personal and intimate than any other act I’ve seen in recent years and left me feeling gutted that I hadn’t bought tickets to the following dates.
Dan + Shay are definitely up there as one of my favourite country bands and I can’t wait to see them again, in Birmingham this time around, I only wish I could attend more! Tour dates below:
28th November – London KOKO
29th November – Bristol Trinity
1st December – Birmingham O2 Academy
3rd December – Manchester Academy 2
4th December – Glasgow St Lukes
Their new single ‘Road Trippin” is out now, a perfect song for the summer!
After changing all his profile pictures to ’10 days’ we knew there had to be something exciting following and it’s about time, too! During a Facebook Live video, Chris Young announced that in 10 days, on May 12th, he will release a new single. He then posted on Twitter & Instagram so that no one missed the news.
Young’s last album – not counting his Christmas album – I’m Coming Over was released in 2015, so it was only a matter of time before we got some new music. Young gave a glimpse on his Instagram page of the single, titled ‘Losing Sleep’. Check it out:
I can’t help but feel that the snippet is reminiscent of Justin Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’, which is in no way a bad thing. Hopefully, following the new single will be an album announcement.
‘Losing Sleep’ will be available on May 12th.
In her feature in the next issue of Billboard Magazine, Miley Cyrus has announced that she will be releasing new music next week, May 11th. This is the perfect time for Miley to make her mark in country as the genre needs more honest female perspectives.
Cyrus is pictured on the cover of the magazine, looking a far cry from her previous endeavours, but beautiful as ever, along with a caption describing her new venture as becoming a, “countrified singer-songwriter”. Her new single, titled ‘Malibu’ has been described as a, “gimmick-free…breezy love song”.
I was really excited to read that Miley is going down a more country route, her distinctive voice is perfect for it – if having Dolly Parton as a godmother isn’t excuse enough. Despite this, Cyrus expressed her concern that country fans, “don’t really take me seriously as a country artist“. I would contest this from my own personal opinion, but I also have high hopes that her new music, which Billy Ray Cyrus describes as, “Miley leaning into her roots more than I’ve ever heard”, will prove to country fans that she is more than deserving of our praise.
‘Malibu’ is out May 11th. Read the full interview with Billboard in the article below.
